Jan Williams

Born in Sydney, Australia, Jan Williams moved to the UK as child . She has a background in architecture and worked in the building industry until 1981. During these years, painting was a cherished leisure pursuit, balanced alongside a full-time career and raising a family.

In 2004, Jan returned to Australia and embraced this time as an opportunity to fully immerse herself in her art. This marked the beginning of a creative journey , a time of exploration, inspiration, and artistic growth.

Jan studied at Studio 22 under the guidance of renowned Australian artist Metka Skrobar, delving into colour, texture, collage, and mixed media with enthusiasm. In 2007, Jan returned to South Wales and committed herself entirely to her painting practice. She became a member of The Silures Art Society in Porthcawl and, in 2014, opened her first gallery, Janz Art, which quickly gained local acclaim.

Jan relocated to the Gold Coast with her husband Steve and two dogs, Bailey and Dylan seeking more time with family and fresh inspiration. This move led to the opening of her new gallery, Janz Art , on Thomas Drive, Chevron Island .

There, Jan can often be found with a paintbrush in one hand and a coffee in the other, music playing as she works. Jan continues to experiment with mediums including watercolours, acrylics, and mixed media always evolving her use of colour and texture to capture the spirit of her subjects.

Jan paintings explore florals, figurative studies, landscapes, and seascapes inspired by the places she's called home. Jan work is held in private collections in Australia, the UK, and beyond.

My Technique

Whether I’m traveling or simply walking my dogs along the beach, I always carry my camera. I take countless photographs to capture the colours, moods, and feelings of a particular moment in time. I watch how the hues of buildings, woodland, sky, and sea shift and change before my eyes.Back in my studio, these images ‚along with my memories‚ become the foundation for my paintings. I work to capture the texture, colour, and form of each scene, building layers with different mediums. Acrylics, inks, watercolours, collage, and acrylic mediums all find their way into my process,

helping me to recreate both the atmosphere and emotion of the places that inspire me.

My work is a reflection of the experiences and emotions of everyday life. I believe art has the power to transform spaces and uplift the spirit, turning a house into a home.

Bringing a piece of art into your space is more than decoration it’s an expression of personality, a way of bringing your walls to life.

I invite you to explore my collection and find the piece that speaks to you – one that will bring colour, character, and joy into your life.
